Paul Franz

Paul is an Education Specialist with the Loka Initiative. He holds a Master’s in Learning, Design, and Technology, and despite leaving academia prior to completing a PhD, has ended up working as a researcher in both the non-profit and Ed Tech startup worlds. Much of that work has focused on Social Emotional Learning and student health and well-being, with a side of curriculum design. Paul is also a former 8th grade English teacher, who enjoys reading a wide variety of literature, from philosophy to science fiction to poetry and everything in between. His hobbies include hiking, playing complex strategy games, jazz piano, and cooking. He lives in Middleton with his partner Dr. Melissa Marver and their (approximately) 9-year-old rescue beagle Lucy.
